    A Night in Indy

At the beginning of the summer I asked my hubby to think of one thing he would really want to do. Basically I told him to think of his ultimate dream date … within reason. I’m sure we’d all love to be whisked away to Italy for a romantic date night, but that’s not possible for us. LOL. I had to come up with mine as well. (I’ll be sharing that one later!!) He actually surprised me with his; he wanted a night away to Indianapolis! The two main reasons for Indy: 1. It has Howl at the Moon (my hubby’s all time favorite place for a fun night out!)…

    Fall Bucket List

Bucket lists are a must in our household; especially one for each season! I love planning and making lists, and so does our oldest! Now that she’s old enough to choose what we do, she gets in on the fun and planning! She’s also diligent on making sure we do all the items on our list…. she’s so my child! Below is our list we came up with to do as a family. I also included my hubby’s and mine adult bucket list because we like to have fun, too! We hope we can inspire you to do some fun things this Fall season! Family Bucket List: Places to go: …

Family Vacations and Why They’re Important

Speaking to one of my friends from mom group a while back, she had took 3 kids to the Dells by herself for a few days. Just to get away and have some fun. She said it was the most amazing thing! To just be able to enjoy them and not worry about anything else but enjoying the moment. And it is so true. As much as I’d like to spend all day every day enjoying my kiddos, at home there are other responsibilities waiting to be done. That’s why I think it’s so important to get away as a family! It made me think of our last family vacation.…

    Library Visits with My Oldest

This summer has been a fun one so far in the sense that my oldest is now 4 and a half and loves to do ‘big kid’ things. (Her words lol) I’ve recently started taking her to the library in town just the two of us. She gets so excited to go on Saturday mornings when Daddy stays home with her baby sister. It means that she gets quality time with just her momma, AND she gets to pick out her own books. Her love for books is one thing I passed on to her, and I’m so thankful for that. I take her with me, and she gets to…

    Creating Family Traditions

When I think of traditions I often think of the holidays. For instance, the day after Thanksgiving we have a tradition of listening to holiday music and sipping hot chocolate while decorating the Christmas tree. My husband and I also have a tradition of watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Christmas night. However, a tradition doesn’t have to be on a holiday. It can be any time of the year and be whatever you want it to be. I’ve read about a family that has a tradition of a “Yes” day every year where they say yes to the kids for whatever they want that specific day. For instance, they…

    Day Dates and Cubbies

Day dates are one of my favorite things to do in this stage of our lives. We have little ones, so it’s nice to be home to put them to bed. Plus it means that our old butts can be in bed at a decent hour to get up with our early risers the next day (the days of late nights are mostly past us!) 🙂 Last month we did a day date in town. It was a fun filled day of sharing hot fudge sundae shakes, couples massage, bookstore trip, and a movie with lots and lots of popcorn! We were able to get home right after the kiddos…

    Electronics at the Table

One of my biggest pet peeves is the phone out at dinner time. Call me old fashion, but it really gets me! Many a time my hubby and I have had a disagreement over having the darn thing out. I know in today’s world electronics and social media has become the norm. I personally don’t want to be so absorbed in the online world that I miss some of the most important things happening right in front of me. I feel like dinner is family time. I’ve always felt like it is a nice time to reflect on the day and share what’s happened. And although our daughters are still…

    Take a Trip!

My husband and I have always loved to travel together. When we got married we planned an anniversary trip each year, and did a few random mini trips in between. My husband is not a big fan a flying, so we’ve stuck to just the USA. But y’all there is so much to see and experience in the wonderful U.S. Of A! Our bigger trips have been to Disney World, Orange Beach, Las Vegas (twice!), San Francisco, Yosemite, Houston / San Antonio, and most recently Gatlinburg. Our smaller trips have included Chicago, Indianapolis, Memphis, Tunica, Quad Cities, and St. Louis (We live in the lovely Midwest!) We now have two…
